Main Press Centre

Central media workspace open for media representatives accredited to the papal visit is located in the congress premises of the Hilton Prague hotel and operates 24 hours during the entire event. TV and radio workspaces (booths) for receiving and editing live international signal are located in the same area.

The press centre itself would accommodate up to 60 journalists, photographers and radio reporters. Each working place will be equipped with broadband Internet access via a standard RJ45 connectors with 220 V power plug. Wireless Internet connection (Wi-Fi), several ISDN lines, a few desktop computers, telephones with international dialing, fax, printer and copy machine are also provided. Places are available upon occupation. Basic refreshments (coffee, tea, water, pastry, fruits) is available for free.

TV and radio crews who wish to work in the press center can book TV or radio editing booth through Eurovision / EBU (bookings@eurovision.net) in case of TV or through the Czech Radio (magda.holubova@rozhlas.cz) in case of radio. Lockable TV booth is equipped with a table and four chairs, two RJ45 internet connectors, Wi-Fi router, digital telephone lines including telephone with international dialing, TV screen with live signal TV input and CCTV info, several 220 V power plugs and live TV quality signal input. Radio booth is equipped with a table and four chairs, two RJ45 internet connectors, one ISDN line, Wi-Fi router, digital telephone lines including telephone with international dialing, TV screen with live signal TV input and CCTV info, several 220 V power plugs and live audio signal input. Editing booths and live TV signal from the Papal visit coverage, produced by Czech Television (CT), are provided free of charge. Signal processing and distribution into editing booths and technical, production and organizational support are provided on-site by Eurovision/EBU and charged under the standard contractual arrangements. Audio signal distribution into editing booths and the technical and organizational support is provided by Czech Radio (CRo) and charged by one-time fee (100 Euro per booth).

Parking space for OB-vans and SNG/DSNG cars is also provided near the press center at Hilton Prague hotel venue and equipped with free power supply (32A plugs). For place booking, please send a request at contacts provided below.

  • Friday, 25/9/2009, 8:00 am – 10:00 pm (TV and radio equipment installation only)
  • Saturday, 26/9/2009, 7:00 am – 12:00 am (non-stop)
  • Sunday, 27/9/2009, 12:00 am – 12:00 am (non-stop)
  • Monday, 28/9/2009, 12:00 am – 11:00 pm


Transportation:

Hilton Prague hotel is situated near the city center, just off the Prague city circuit and main bank road (direction Hradec Králové/Mladá Boleslav) crossing and is therefore easily accessible by car. The hotel is in 5 minutes walking distance from the Florenc underground station (lines B and C, Sokolovská exit), Florenc street public transport stop and the main coach terminal Praha-Florenc. Travelling from Prague-Ruzyně international airport, taking bus and underground (A line Dejvická station with a transfer to C line at Muzeum station) takes approximately 50 minutes to get to Hilton Prague hotel. From the main train station, one-stop underground transfer takes approximately 10 minutes. Using a taxi, it takes about 45 minutes from the airport and 5-10 minutes from the main train station, depending on the flow of traffic. Pay rate is around 550 CZK / 25 Euro from the airport.
